Setting up an artshow, in a motorcycle club.

Welcome to Gotham Depot Moto, where my solo exhibit, "kelpforestfigments" opened on Aug. 9th, 2025. The show is up through September 30th. The reception was a smash! This is an exclusive motorcycle club, if interested in viewing artwork, please email for viewing: callie@callieart.com. It also contains an incredible array of motorcycles! I am hoping to do a closing party during the week so that more are able to attend the event. Date TBA.
Now for the interesting part, setting up the show!
To prep for the show, the owner Stefon requested a pamphlet with all the paintings, of which there are 18, sizes and prices to assist with sales when I am not there. I also added my bio, artist statement and resume to further inform buyers of my selling history. I printed out a few of these to hand out during the reception as well. Stefon and I have been working closely together planning the show for a number of weeks beforehand. Our rides out to Greenpoint, were filled with his numorous biker stories, and I just loved hearing his excitement concerning the show. Upon arriving, we would get to work! The following photographs are the set up in the back room of the clubhouse.
Owners Stefon and Ronnie created a amazing community of bike lovers, and bikes of every kind reside here. There is no snobery, just everyone sharing their love for two wheels and a motor. They created such a magical space for their members.
At the reception I sold art on wood with a hanging feature, similar to the ones I sell in the Mystry Mart art machine at Brooklyn Museum. I also started purchasing bicycle tools on ebay to paint, with a magnet on back it became a novelty item. I really got into this activity, soon I was creating backgrounds on sheet metal and titled the pieces, "lost tools". People loved being able to purchase these affordable collectables. It is nice to be able to sell work at different price points, so everyone can be a collector.
Thank you for your interest.
Cheers, Callie
