Setting up an artshow, in a motorcycle club.
"kelpforestfigments" opens this Saturday, Aug. 9th, 2025. The reception, of which you are invited, is from 7 - 10pm at 51 Box Street, Brooklyn NY 11222. Now for the interesting part, setting up the show!
To prep for the show, I created a pamphlet with all the paintings, of which there are 18, sizes and prices. I also added my bio, artist statement and resume. I printed out a few of these to hand out during the reception, and gave one with a spiral binding for Stefon, who mans the motorcycle clubhouse. He is also the co-owner and wonderfully brilliant. We have been working closely together on this project, this show, for a number of weeks. I love hearing his stories, and seeing his excitement concerning the show. The following photographs are the set up in the back room of the clubhouse.
Owners Stefon and Ronnie created a amazing community of bike lovers, and bikes of every kind reside here. There is no snobery, just everyone sharing their love for two wheels and a motor.
Below is the main hall, during the reception I will have four paintings on steel hanging from the ceiling, going down the runway to the backroom.
At the reception I will also be selling art on wood with a hanging feature. My friend Stephen Kaldon will be selling his journal, Serious Ink Press Journal, of which I have a color spread in. To add a little something extra, I started purchasing bicycle tools to paint, added magnets and sell as fun pieces. I really got into this activity, soon I was creating background on metal and titled the pieces, "lost tools".Fingers crossed the evening is a blast!
